ABOUT THE ALBUM
As a debut album, “US vs THEM" fuses styles of reggae, funk, punk and psychedelic rock to create a high energy sound with conscious lyrics about the division in our world today
Capturing the bands high energy act, songs like “No Sense” and “Hightail it...” can be traced back to LIZANO’s first shows in El Salvador and Nicaragua. Most of the album however was written on tour in 2016 while LIZANO covered the entire west coast from San Diego to Oregon.
In the tradition of songs like “Smoke Two Joints” and “Bowl for Two”, LIZANO’s “Satisfied” is their very own anthem to Ms. Mary. Its has smooth reggae rock tones with lyrical content that is meant to ‘open your third eye’ to the love that surrounds us all.
This is a very psychedelic guitar driven record, with influences of Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and the RHCP present on tracks like “Brethren” “B.H.W.” and “Tunnel Vision”.
All of the songs are original with the exception of the song “Everything”. Originally written by Ballyhoo! LIZANO chose to rearrange it with a latin swing vibe.
The title track, “US vs THEM” is the hardest hitting song on the album. It encompasses all of LIZANO’s energy in the music with lyrics that call to action such as: “You’ve got to stand up and push back against the tide...”
“...the band progresses through a set of songs that speaks to their Reggae, Punk, Rock and Rhythm and Blues influences. The instrumentation is complex” - The Reno News & Review
